Palms Provide


Part of the enjoyment of strolling through the various rooms at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory in Como Park are the signs that provide information about the various blossoms, vegetation and plants.  To learn about the history of the conservatory, click here.

  5. It is nice to know how useful some plants are. I wish farmers would put a sign by their fields and identify their crops. Sometimes Tom and I can't even figure out what is growing.

  7. Unfortunately we live too far north to grow palms around here. They can only survive in heated greenhouses.

  8. I was about to ask you what "wox" is until I realized the word is actually "wax". Duh.

  9. This reminds me of an educational exhibit I did for some years: "What Do Trees Give Us?" I set up a large tree and covered it with examples of tree products, some being small Christmas ornaments (like fruits). It worked very well.
