Privacy Fence

I wonder what is behind this fence?  Perhaps it is irrational on my part, but these privacy fences vex me!  I prefer a community that encourages more interaction with neighbours. We have a fence to contain our dogs, yet it doesn't interfere with visibility.

  2. Fences like this are very common here in the southwest. Almost every home has them.

  3. It's on the order of 'some like it hot, some like it cold'. Living in St Paul there was high fence between us and one of the neighbors. One day the property on which the fence was located sold and new neighbors moved in. Down came the fence. It was then I realized how much I do enjoy privacy while living in a neighborhood where homes are close together. the people taking it down thought they were doing us wonders. I didn't say otherwise since it wasn't my fence. I survived but would have like to see the fence stay. No you're not irrational and neither am I! LOL

  4. Those flowers stand out nicely with the fence as a background. All the fences I had were visible and my dogs liked that. They always liked seeing what's going on just like people. Oh, dogs are people, right. :)

  5. That is a beautiful fence and garden bed. We have no fences between us and our neighbors. That just means we sometimes mow each others lawns a little.

  6. It's nice when a fence like that has some decorative openings spread along it.

  8. Well, it's a good backdrop for the flowers.

  9. Don't be vexed. Some of us think they're a great idea...they keep out unwanted folks and have gates to let in wanted folks. :)

  11. You never know. There could be a very big, bouncy dog on the other side. Or someone who parades around nude, and not in a good way. Or a grump.

  12. This fence surprises me a little since you have so much snow in winter.

  13. I agree, it is a very closed fence.

  14. I've never understood the need for tall fences like that either but to each their own. It looks like a pretty nice fence and the flowers by it are lovely.

  15. I like a fence for privacy when you eat or entertain outdoors. Also for keeping the neighborhood kids from picking the things in my garden and on my fruit trees. I like to talk to my neighbor's, too, but that is usually in the front yard. So I guess I like both, privacy and neighborliness!
